      Melba Sibrel's slightly whiny voice and off-kilter cadence reflect the personality of Stephanie "Sam" McRae, a flaky but determined lawyer who finds herself defending a former client who is accused of identify theft and murder. Using slight tonal differences, Sibrel hits the mark with the supporting characters--from Mafia wise-guy bruisers to wacky suspects. Her voice becomes whispery when she delivers narrative, a style that creates welcome contrast. And she's especially creative with the female characters.
