ATTACK ON STALINGRAD • In autumn 1942, the Soviet industrial city of Stalingrad is the scene for a personal duel between Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler. Both lay claim to a city that quickly turns into a smoking heap of ruins. And both dictators are willing to pay for victory with the lives of hundreds of thousands.

DICTATORS BATTLE FOR OIL IN THE CAUCASUS • Among rugged cliffs and more than 5,000 metres high, German troops sneak down narrow roads through the Caucasus. But high mountains, enemy special forces and a rain of bombs threaten to crush Hitler’s forces in his quest to capture Stalin’s oil in the south of the Soviet Union.

HITLER’S ARMY LOSES IT ALL AT STALINGRAD • At the beginning of January 1943, Soviet forces initiated a major offensive at Stalingrad. The goal was to crush the remains of Hitler’s besieged 6th Army. For the next 20 days, German soldiers fought a futile battle against a vengeful enemy.

HISTORY’S LARGEST TANK BATTLE • In mid-1943, Hitler slows the Russian advanced on the Eastern Front by committing his forces to a huge tank battle in the Russian city of Kursk.
