Grades 3-6 The Gaming and eSports series offers young video-game enthusiasts information from multiple angles. Power On takes readers back in time, giving a broad overview of the history of the industry by way of the most prominent consoles and games over the last century. As a group, these titles complement one another well, covering a wide base of pertinent information. Each double-page spread incorporates a paragraph or two into a layout somewhat busy with video-gamey graphics, supplemented by the occasional info box. While the tone of much of the writing is introductory, this series best suited to kids already familiar with e-games and their conventions, as foreknowledge is often assumed and subjects vary from page to page. Back matter contains an index, after-reading questions, and activity prompts.
